Science shows us that it takes a minimum of 40 days to create a habit. It also shows that a good habit is as hard to break as a bad one. If you want long term change, you are going to have to be committed to that change, whatever change you are looking for.

You may be struggling with health issues or maybe mental or spiritual issues in your life. Maybe you are struggling in all three areas of your life. There is hope out there for you.

Ask yourself a few questions. The first question to ask is how do you want to start everyday of your life. What would it be like to wake up, refreshed and energetic without coffee or an energy drink? How could you see the rest of your day going. Wouldn't it be better to wake up saying "Good morning God" instead of "Good God it's morning". How much more would you look forward to the rest of your day?

The next question covers your mental state. Ask yourself "When was the last time you went an entire week without feeling stressed or rushed?" Is it hard to remember the last time, Maybe when you were seven or eight years old. What if you could find ways to reduce your stress and worry. How much more could you accomplish in your life if you could put the stress behind you.

Well, today is the day to start the change in your life. Today is the day to start creating habits that will help you live a long, healthy, stress free life. It is not about making major changes at once. It is about making small changes on a daily basis. You want to develop the mindset of being able to change your life one percent everyday. After all, you don't eat the entire elephant in one bite, you eat it one little bite at a time.

So where do you start? You first need to decide what you want to focus in on. What area or areas of your life do you want to change? Do you want to lose weight, do you want to have more energy, are you looking to have a better relationship with your spouse or even a better relationship with God? You have to decide what area of your life you want to improve and start moving in that direction.

In most cases, we are not living our lives to the fullest because we do not have the right strategies to get us through our journey. We are trained to have a mindset that because I am old, I should be sick and dis-eased. Because my mother or father had heart disease, I also with have heart disease.

This is not the truth and once you develop a mindset to start thinking in a different direction with your life, you will soon start to change. Your life will get exceedingly better.

One of the things you can do to start improving you day is to set 15 every morning aside for quite time. This quite time can be time spent studying the word of God, or time in meditation, time or reflection or however you wish to spend your quite time. It is important for this time to have no distractions and make sure that nothing interrupts this time. You have to make this time part of your daily routine and nothing can interferes with this part of your morning.

This process in first thing in the morning will help you to get a clear perspective on the rest of your day. Remember that if you do this everyday for 40 days, it will become a good habit in your life.

One more quick tip to improving your overall health and vitality before we close. Cut out the bad whites. The bad whites consist of white sugars, white flour and white salts. All of these are processed and have no health benefits to eating them. You are slowly poisoning your body and you don't even realize it. Every time you add sugar to your diet, your are reducing your cells ability to produce energy. The same with white flours and salt. There are many healthy alternatives to these products. For instance, you can use stevia instead of white sugar or you can use sea salt instead of white, refined salt. There are many more options out there than you probably know.

The biggest thing is to slowly start to pull these things out of your diet. Remember that this is a long term plan for you and you don't have to cut everything out at once. Maybe start by replacing your sugar with stevia or maybe even start by using one teaspoon of sugar instead of two. With each little step you take to getting healthy, you will feel better. Just don't try to take it all on at once.

Start developing good habits over a long period of time to ensure that they stick for the rest of your life. Here is a great quote to hold onto.

The desire and determination to keep moving forward is what will separate you from everyone else. Remember that everyone fails, it is the person that gets up and keeps moving forward that will succeed. Failing and quitting makes you an average person, but failing and continuing makes you better. On your journey to a higher level of health and vitality, there will be bumps in the road. Every failure, every setback and every mistake has led you to search for another answer and a way of getting your health back. You have to start by just moving forward. After all, you don't lose the race because you fail, you lose the race because you quit. Never stop moving forward with overcoming any challenges you have in your life.
